Fox, a travel wirter for the Washington Post and
Radin-Fox, a photographer/writer, explore the Hawaiian islands in
search of new and exotic romantic spots for the mainland weary.
The husband and wife team give island-by-island descriptions of
sights, restaurants, bed and breakfasts, and hotels along with
interesting island facts and trivia. However, the book reveals
little new information and is in essence recycled rehash of
better guides to Hawaii. First, the title is misleading since the
narrative does not suggest nor recommend accomodations or
services geared specifically to lovers or newlyweds. For example,
the Island of Kaua'i is world famous as a wedding site. This is
not revealed. Fern Grotto, the top spot for nuptials, isn't even
mentioned. Libraries would be better served by purchasing J.D.
Bisgnani's Hawaii Handbook (Moon Pubns., 1990) and David
Zurick's Hawaii, Naturally (LJ 7/90). Not
recommended.
