The latest in the "Insight Pocket Guides" series contains the usual fare: where to stay, where to stop, where to drink, and where to golf. Suggested itineraries are provided along with a calendar of special events. Bali is internationally known as marvelous place to enjoy festivals, music and dance, with the country's many temples as backdrop. Wijaya's guide mentions some fo the better-known festivals, as well as a few that are less well-known, far from bustling Denpasar. These descriptions will certainly be of interest to readers bound for Bali. But though history, culture, and language are covered, the information provided tends to be superficial, leaving serious travelers wanting more. Readers (and librarians) looking for greater detail should consider purchasing Bill Dalton's Bali Handbook (Moon Pubns., 1990). Wijay's book is recommended for the light traveler.
